Comparison of Medicare Supplement Plans

The chart below shows national average benefits covered by Medigap policies in 2025.

Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans add extra coverage to your Original Medicare Parts A and B. They cover some, if not all, of the expenses that Part A and B do not cover, like co-pays, deductibles and other charges. Since Medicare decides what benefits can be included in a supplement plan, and benefits are the same for all carriers, it’s important to consider things like premiums, service and overall dependability of the carrier when deciding on a plan for your unique healthcare needs and budget.  This side-by-side glance of your Medicare Supplement options is a great way to expand your knowledge of Medicare and ensure you are getting the coverage you deserve!

Yes = the plan covers 100% of this benefit
No = the policy doesn’t cover that benefit
% = the plan covers that percentage of this benefit
N/A = not applicable

*Plan F and G on the above Medicare Supplement chart offers a high-deductible plan. If you have this option, this means you must pay for Medicare-covered costs up to the deductible amount of $2,870 before your Medigap plan pays anything.

Note that as of January 1, 2020, Medigap plans sold to new people with Medicare aren’t allowed to cover the Part B deductible. Because of this, Plans C and F are not available to people new to Medicare starting on January 1, 2020.

**After you meet your out-of-pocket yearly limit and your yearly Part B deductible, the Medigap plan pays 100% of covered services for the rest of the calendar year.

***Plan N on the above Medicare Supplement Chart pays 100% of the Part B coinsurance, except for a copayment of up to $20 for some office visits and up to a $50 copayment for emergency room visits that don’t result in inpatient admission.
